I have not been lucky in the world of pasta sauce. Yes, I try to make my own but sometimes I just don't feel like it!... so I'm fooled by too many fancy jars of sauce I hate to admit to.
Finally on a recent trip to Whole Foods my luck changed. I came across one on sale that I haven't seen on the shelves before. After reading the label I was intrigued by this Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood restaurant marinara sauce with "a touch of cheese and cayenne pepper for a little zip". Skeptical it sat in my pantry for weeks until a few days ago when I didn't know what to make for dinner so I went with easy pasta and grabbed this sauce. Cooked some whole wheat penne, microwaved the sauce then sat down to eat my unexciting uninspired meal, took one bite and jumped up exclaiming "what is this sauce? it is the best ever!" I ran to read the label and was not surprised this blend of sweet tomatoes with olive oil, butter, fresh garlic, parmesan cheese and cayenne pepper is right up my alley! I loved it so much I thought about it the next day and heated the rest of the jar in the oven with some goat cheese to dunk bread in... amazing! Now I must find this "off the beaten path" restaurant for a taste of it fresh!

This sauce is fantastic. It is one of the best sauces I have found. I even called the restaurant to compliment them on it. Also that if I ever got to Chicago again I would definitely stop by and dine there. I wish we could find it down here in Missouri.

Jen's Kitchen...is the smallest kitchen ever. We used to watch those decorating shows that said they were doing small kitchens and then could see that 4 of my kitchens would fit in their "small kitchens". Archives
